A Modern Makeover Inside high-fashion retailer SSENSE’s monochromatic, minimalist Montréal office September 15, 2015 Photos by Adrien Williams New, refined materials contrast with the space’s crude industrial shell. The white environment of open desks is defined with a parallel movement of linear lighting. The office occupies the entire floor of a former textile factory to hold office, studio, and warehouse space. The space reflects its efficient, transparent, and minimalist personality. The west side is open enough to house its hundred employees with a dozen 12-foot-long tables. Montréal-based firm Humà Design completed the design of the 23,000-square-foot space in 2013. Ceilings, walls, exposed columns, and pipes were kept intact as an artifact that links past and future. The east side houses common spaces like the kitchen, play zones, and a lounge area.
